HISTORY OF RIFUGIO COLDAI

Rifugio Coldai was built in the summer of 1905 on the initiative of the Venice Section of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) and inaugurated on September 30 of the same year.

In 1931, with the financial contribution of the Sonino family, it was expanded and named in memory of Adolfo Sonino, a mountaineer who died in 1930 at Punta Fiames.

Set on fire in the autumn of 1944 during a nazi roundup against some partisan units, it was rebuilt and reopened in 1948.
